The 2026 SECA Art Award exhibition at SFMOMA highlights the practices of artists CrossLypka, Em Kettner, and Chanell Stone. Scheduled from December 12, 2026, to May 30, 2027, the exhibition will be accessible to the public for free on Floor 2 of the museum.
Each artist will debut a gallery featuring new works across sculpture, ceramics, photography, drawing, and textiles. The exhibition emphasizes the artists’ inventive approaches and the diversity of their artistic languages.
CrossLypka’s work, in collaboration with another artist, explores themes of mirroring and symmetry, reflecting the collaborative process as the interaction of two distinct minds and bodies. Em Kettner’s pieces reinterpret votive objects, traditionally used as offerings to ward off illness, and use humor to highlight the ingenuity of people with disabilities.
Chanell Stone’s contribution includes technically daring photographs and poetry that examine Black American presence and belonging in the American South. Her work combines visual and literary forms to address questions of identity and place.
Support for the 2026 SECA Art Award exhibition is provided by Sonya Yu, with additional funding from the James C. & Michael P. Araque-Hormel Endowment Fund. Community support comes from Len and Holly Auerbach, Heidy Braverman and David Skinner, Lauren Clark, and Alan Porter and Paul Hoge.
This exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to engage with contemporary art that explores complex social themes and collaborative processes through a range of media.
