The Vincent Price Gallery and Art Museum will present the exhibition California Collectives: Asian American Moderns, 1924–1965 from November 21, 2026, to March 6, 2027.

California Collectives: Asian American Moderns, 1924–1965 will be on view at the Vincent Price Gallery and Art Museum from November 21, 2026, through March 6, 2027. The exhibition features over 50 works and is organized by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in collaboration with the Riverside Art Museum, Vincent Price Art Museum at East Los Angeles College, and Ontario Museum of History & Art.

This exhibition is part of Local Access, a series of American art exhibitions developed through a multi-year, multi-institutional partnership led by LACMA as part of the Art Bridges Cohort Program. The official schedule confirms the exhibition’s dates and venue at the Vincent Price Gallery and Art Museum.

California Collectives: Asian American Moderns, 1924–1965 highlights the work of Asian American artists in California during the mid-twentieth century. The exhibition brings together modernist works created between 1924 and 1965, reflecting a range of artistic approaches and experiences.

The collaborative effort among several regional museums aims to provide broader access to these works. Visitors to the Vincent Price Gallery and Art Museum will have the opportunity to engage with a significant selection of artworks that represent an important chapter in American art history.

Why it matters

This exhibition provides an opportunity to explore the artistic contributions of Asian American modernists in California, a group often underrepresented in art history. By presenting these works through a collaborative museum initiative, the exhibition broadens public understanding of American modernism and highlights cultural diversity within the movement.
