MoMA, Centre Pompidou, and M+ Form New Cultural Alliance

Three leading modern art institutions—MoMA, Centre Pompidou, and M+—have established a cultural alliance to enhance collaboration and expand opportunities for millions of visitors worldwide.

On October 30, 2026, The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, Centre Pompidou in Paris, and M+ in Hong Kong announced the formation of a new cultural alliance. The agreement was signed at an event held at M+ in the presence of trustees and stakeholders from all three institutions.

This alliance is designed to foster joint exhibitions, programs, research, and conservation efforts, while each museum maintains its independence and unique identity. By collaborating, the institutions aim to achieve greater capacities than would be possible individually, leveraging their combined strengths and resources.

Together, these museums welcome approximately 10 million in-person visitors annually and reach around 125 million online visitors. Their collections form an extraordinarily broad, deep, and multidisciplinary repository of 20th- and 21st-century creativity.

The alliance reflects the way creative practice spans and connects multiple cultures. It draws on the collective expertise of the three institutions to amplify diverse perspectives and better represent the global scope of modern and contemporary art.

This collaboration represents a significant step toward increased international cooperation in the arts, offering enriched experiences for audiences and supporting the preservation and study of modern cultural heritage.

Why it matters

The alliance between MoMA, Centre Pompidou, and M+ creates new opportunities for cultural exchange and access to modern art worldwide. By combining their resources and expertise, these institutions can offer more diverse programming and reach broader audiences, strengthening the global art community.
